Web 2.0 – The Next Disruptive Technology by John F. McMullen (johnmac -- The following was printed as a letter in the October 2008 issue of Analog Magazine. Note: Stanley Schmidt is the editor of Analog). I just started Stanley Schmidt's "The Coming Convergence" and, after reading the first two very well-written chapters, cheated went right to Chapter 8 – "The Explosion in Information Technology" (after reading the first 2 chapters, 45 years in the IT business made me want to see how the threads established early in the work play out in my field), I think that the analysis of change in IT was right-on – but might have gone even further in exploring the importance of the newest paradigm shift in IT, the next truly "disruptive technology" – Web 2.0

Enterprise 2.0, According to Tim O’Reilly by Barbara McMullen It is appropriate, in this first issue of Web 2.0 The Magazine, to refer to the recent blog entry by Tim O’Reilly entitled “Google, WalMart, and MyBarackObama.com: The Power of the Real Time Enterprise” (December 27, 2008). After all, O’Reilly gave Web 2.0 its name when they launched the first Web 2.0 Summit in November, 2008. Web 2.0 is a classic disruptive technology as O’Reilly points out. In his blog entry. O’Reilly explains what is at the heart of Enterprise 2.0, a transformation that does not resemble “the trendy labels given to marketing campaigns of companies such as Dell’s IdeaStorm and MyStarbucksidea.”
